Ten options, compared
What Are the Best Hookup Apps?
Ten apps and sites side by side, checked against their own pages on 16 October 2026.
It depends on how you like to meet. Tinder, Bumble and Hinge are mainstream apps where you say what you want in a profile, Feeld and Pure are open-minded apps built around desire and short-lived chats, Fling and AdultFriendFinder are adult dating sites, and Naughty Singles is a browser site where adults say plainly what they are after.
The short list
Ten ways to find a casual date, side by side
Search for the best hookup apps and you meet a pile of lists that recycle the same ten names. This page does something plainer. It puts each service’s own description, the way it charges and the places you can use it into one table, then helps you choose.
Every fact comes from the service’s own pages, its App Store and Google Play listings or an encyclopedia, and was checked on 16 October 2026. Prices are left out because they change by country and by week, and each service’s own pricing page has the current figure.
The table
Who each one is for, how it charges and where you use it

The linked names go to a full side-by-side with Naughty Singles. The comparisons hub lists all six.
Three kinds of service
Pick the kind first, then the name
Mainstream apps
Tinder, Bumble and Hinge hold a mixed crowd, so your profile does the sorting. Tinder’s own guidelines keep sexual content off public profiles and allow it in private chat when everyone is comfortable with it.
Open-minded apps
Feeld says it can be used for hookups but is not only that, and Pure says you can be as casual as you like. Both are built around saying what you are into.
Adult dating sites
Fling, AdultFriendFinder, BeNaughty and Naughty Singles are adult dating sites where being upfront is the point. Several let you register or browse before you pay, and charge when you want to talk more.
Grindr sits on its own. It is a long-running app for gay, bi, trans and queer people, so it answers a different question from the other nine.
What people want
Everyone on an app wants something different
So say yours in the first line.
A Pew Research Center survey of US adults, published in 2023, asked people who had been on a dating site or app in the past year why they did. Some 44% named a long-term partner as a major reason, 40% said dating casually, 24% said casual sex and 22% said making friends. Men were far likelier than women to name casual sex, 31% against 13%.
Put that crowd on one mainstream app and you get four kinds of person in one inbox. It is why the honest sites and apps make you say what you want, and why the opening line of your profile matters more than the photo of you on a mountain. Our casual dating profile tips show how to say it well.
How to choose
Four steps from a long list to the right one
Decide what you are after
One night, something regular, a flirt that goes nowhere or a friend with an edge. Naming it first narrows ten services to two or three.
Read how it charges
Several of these let you join or browse first and charge to message, and some renew automatically. Find the plan and renewal note before you spend an evening on the profile.
Look at the safety tools
Check what the service says about verification, blocking and reporting. Our guide to whether hookup sites are safe lists what to look for on any of them.
Try one, then meet carefully
Chat first, meet somewhere public and tell a friend where you are going. The guide to finding a hookup covers the manners.
Where we fit
Naughty Singles in this company
A browser site for grown-ups who like to be upfront.
- You choose a relationship type, from casual to long-term to friendship, and daily match suggestions weigh it along with age range and distance.
- It runs in your browser and can be added to your phone’s home screen, as the hookup app guide shows.
- Free ID verification earns a badge, and there is a live video check with a moderator that needs no documents.
- About six in ten members are between 35 and 54, so the crowd leans grown-up.
The features page lists the rest, and the pricing page shows what each plan costs and which ones renew.
Best hookup apps, answered
What is the best hookup app?
There is no single best one. Tinder is the mainstream default, Feeld and Pure suit open-minded people, Fling and AdultFriendFinder are adult dating sites, and Naughty Singles suits adults who want to say what they are after from a browser. Choose by what you want and how you like to meet.
Which hookup apps are free to use?
Tinder, Feeld, Hinge, Bumble and Grindr can all be used without paying, with paid upgrades on top. Fling and AdultFriendFinder are free to join and charge for messaging or extras, and Pure needs a subscription to use fully. Check each plan and its renewal terms before you pay.
Can I use a hookup site without an app?
Yes. Naughty Singles, Fling and AdultFriendFinder work in a browser, and Tinder has a web version. Feeld is the exception, because it is an iPhone and Android app only. A browser site can still sit on your home screen like an app.
Are hookup apps safe?
They can be, with care. No service can check everyone, and romance scams are common enough that the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center logged 23,159 romance and confidence fraud complaints in 2025. Use blocking and reporting, keep chats on the service, meet in public and never send money. Our safety page has the full list.
What is the best hookup app for people over 40?
Look for a service where members say their age and what they want, so nobody is guessing. About six in ten Naughty Singles members are between 35 and 54, and the age range in your daily matches is yours to set.
